Cass County Jail Overview

Cass County Jail, also called Cass County Detention Center on roster pages, is operated by the Cass County Sheriff's Office. It is the only local detention facility identified for Cass County in the official source set. The jail is part of the City County Law Enforcement Center in Plattsmouth, a shared public-safety complex that also houses sheriff and Plattsmouth Police functions near the courthouse complex.

The sheriff's homepage says the law-enforcement center was built in 2022 and covers about 73,000 square feet. It contains the Sheriff's Office, Plattsmouth Police Department, and a jail with more than 100 beds. The Corrections Division gives the working capacity more precisely as up to 110 inmates and says the jail is staffed by 30 employees.

Who Cass County Jail Holds

Cass County Jail holds local adult detainees before trial, county-sentenced inmates, and people assigned to work release. It can also hold people tied to federal or immigration matters when a cooperative agreement or detainer places them in the local jail. That mixed custody role is why a Cass County Jail inmate lookup may require more than one official system.

The sheriff site says cooperative agreements with federal and local agencies, including U.S. Marshals Service arrangements, help offset operating costs. ICE records also identify Cass County Jail in inspection and disclosure materials. Still, the sheriff's inmate-search page says federal detainees are not discoverable through the Cass County Sheriff's Office website, so federal and immigration locators remain important fallback channels.

The correct first lookup channel for county jail custody is the sheriff inmate-search page. It searches current bookings and 48-hour releases by first and last name or by last name. The older current and release roster pages were offline for maintenance during inspection, so the jail phone and records-request process are important when the online roster does not answer the question.

2. Search by the person's full name, or try last name only if spelling is uncertain.
3. Check the 48-hour release scope if the person may have just left custody.
4. Call Cass County Jail at 402-296-9377 if the roster is offline or the result is unclear.
5. Use NDCS, BOP, or ICE locators if the custody type is state prison, federal prison, or immigration detention.

Cass County Jail Address

Cass County Jail Visitation

Visitation rules must be read from the current county visitation page because the newer sheriff visitation page said "Coming Soon!" during research. The county page says an inmate must submit an authorized visitor list to the front office, and the list must be on file by 8:00 a.m. the day of the visit. Visitors need valid photo identification. Visits are first-come, first-served, and visitors must appear at least 15 minutes early.

The inspected page did not publish a detailed banned-item list, so confirm with the jail before sending anything other than standard correspondence.

Cass County Jail Bond

The sheriff's bond page focuses on bond assignment. If a person posting bond wants the money returned to the poster at the completion of court proceedings, a Bond Assignment Form must be completed and signed. The page instructs the poster to speak with Corrections staff when posting bond. The form is only needed when the poster wants funds returned to the poster rather than the inmate.

After booking, the County Attorney reviews law-enforcement reports and determines formal charges. County Court handles misdemeanors and felony preliminary hearings. District Court handles felony trials and appealed cases. A jail booking charge is not the same as a final court charge, so court records should be checked after the first filing.

Cass County Jail Programs

The Corrections Division says Cass County Jail offers domestic violence classes, GED courses, Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and church services. Food service is managed by an outside contractor, meals are prepared on site, and inmate trustees help with meal preparation, cell cleaning, laundry, and other daily work. Medical staffing includes two nurses and one doctor.
